She has addressed international forums such as the annual ComNet conference in Washington, DC, the National Speaker's Association, Toastmasters International, and the International Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
Her writings include regular columns for Worldwide Business Practices Report, Carolina Business Journal, and the newly published Rules of the Game: Global Business Protocol.
Ms. Leaptrott has led numerous seminars and training sessions for many of America's top corporate executives and professionals preparing themselves as players in the international marketplace. Her client list includes Amalgamated Apparel Manufacturers of America, General Electric, Glaxo Wellcome, John Hancock, Masco, Milliken & Co., Northern Telecom, and the U.S. Air Force in London.
Prior to joining GBC, Margaret served as the communications director for the World Trade Center North Carolina (WTCNC), where she developed and designed a variey of programs and promotional materials for the Center, its programs and services. In this capacity, she maintained the Center's Web site and was editor of the quarterly newsletter, Trade reMarks. She also supervised the Center's volunteer Internship Program. She was promoted after two years as the assistant program director, when she designed and organized educational programs for the North Carolina business community. She serves on the Board of Advisors of AIESEC-DUKE, an international student organization, and the Global Business Roundtable Committee of North Carolina's Council for Entrepreneurial Development.
Before joining the WTCNC, Margaret was the coordinator of Duke University's Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the Fuqua School of Business. She has lived in England and traveled throughout Western Europe. Recent travels include Costa Rica and Australia. Studying sub-Saharan African cultures as an undergraduate, Margaret earned a bachelor of arts degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Connecticut College. Margaret works to promote cross-cultural understanding and knowledge as an integral aspect of success in the global marketplace. She speaks French and has studied Russian, German, Hebrew and Spanish.
Gerd coaches individual managers and top management teams in new global assignments and cross-cultural challenges (transition management). He also delivers training programs that enhance the participant's capabilities in international negotiations. In the area of leadership-training programs, Gerd emphasizes the development of top and middle management team competencies that help deliver their company's strategy in the international arena. He supports the implementation of solutions by designing systems to monitor the desired outcomes.
To achieve personal change he applies the methods of Transactional Analysis, Neuro Linguistic Programming and the Tavistock model of group dynamics.
Gerd has earned Masters degrees in Business Administration and in Organizational Psychology. He studied organizational effectiveness in the USA with National Training Laboratories, Bethel, Maine and with Columbia University, New York.
